From St. Louis area. As a young girl, Della Rae was already headlining at the Casa-Loma in St. Louis, after competing in a national singing contest sponsored by The Associated Retail Bakers of America. From 1964-1968, she appeared regularly at the Rendezvous club in Springfield, Missouri (first as "Little Della Rae," and later "The Don Clements-Della Rae Show") and recorded several tunes by Springfield locals Wayne Carson ands Ronnie Self.
