Producing since 1998, Kem first experimented in Drum & Bass and downtempo, ultimately settling on breakbeat as the new breaks movement began to surface. Heavily influenced by Drum & Bass, he quickly was drawn in by the hard drums and driving bass of this new hybrid genre. In 2002, his first record was a self-pressed single, with "Blood Simple" and "Vice," which got him his first official release on Transformer Man's UK label Tomorrow Sounds.Residing in his hometown of Portland OR, USA, Kem holds a position as a member of the Northwest breaks crew Virus, as well as the breaks/dnb/turntablist collective Darkcity.
