Canadian band from Québec city. First performing in extracurricular activities at the "College Des Jésuites" in Quebec City, they made their real debut at the "Center de loisirs Saint-Sacrement". This venue then hosts, every Saturday afternoon, the radio program "Le Cabaret Des Jeunes", broadcast on CHRC 80. Then bearing the name "Thunderbirds", they were renamed "Atomic" by the show's host, Jacques Boulanger. This is how the name of "Les Mégatones" first made itself known on the radio before becoming famous on records. The name refers to the atomic bomb in addition to being bilingual, in case they would make an American career.Michel Verreault (saxophone, vocals (1963-1966)) was also a member of the band.
