The Meatmen are a punk rock band formed in Lansing, Michigan, USA, in 1979. Since its inception the band has revolved around vocalist Robert Vermeulen, a one-time fanzine editor and elementary school teacher better known as Tesco Vee. The band is known primarily for its irreverent and sometimes offensive sense of humor. The first Meatmen records were issued by Touch And Go Records, a label that Tesco co-founded in 1981. Tesco moved to Washington DC in late 1982 and continued the band with a rotating cast of musicians, including former members of Negative Approach and Minor Threat, and its sound evolved from hardcore punk to include more metallic influences. The Meatmen initially split in 1988 but reformed a few years later before Vee put the band to rest again in 1997. In 2008, after relocating back to Michigan, Tesco relaunched the Meatmen.
