Curt Sachs

Curt Sachs (29th June 1881, Berlin — 5th Feb 1959, New York) was a German musicologist. He is considered as one of the founders of "organology," a scientific study of musical instruments. He also invented a common system of musical instrument classification together with Erich M. Von Hornbostel, first published in 1914 and now known as "Sachs–Hornbostel system."
