Ramón Ortega Contreras

Mexican, composer, violinist, harmonica player, artist agent, and later A&R.
He was born on September 19 at Rancho de la Peña, in the municipality of Quitupan, Jal. His songs have been recorded by hundreds of musical groups, and the interpreters who have given them the greatest success are Vicente Fernández, with Ni en defensa propia, and Gerardo Reyes, with El rey de los camino, a song written in co-authorship with Raúl Adame. The success that gave him the greatest satisfaction was the song El sube y baja, co-authored with Felipe Valdéz Leal, of which more than 100 versions have been recorded. He played the harmonica in several recordings by Irma Serrano, some commercials and radio soap operas, as well as in the background in the corridos narrated by Ignacio López Tarso. He passed away on May 25, 2007.
