The Seldon Plan

Effective period / Period of releases: 2005 - 2011

The Seldon Plan was an American post-rock-pop band formed in Baltimore, MD active from 2002-2013.

The Seldon Plan started out by performing at non-traditional venues like art galleries and DIY spaces in Baltimore. Many of their early shows fueled the DIY renaissance in the Baltimore music scene in the early-mid 2000s. During these performances they gained notoriety by inviting artists, poets, and filmmakers to display their work concurrently with the music. They released their early work on The Beechfields Record Label in Baltimore before signing a deal with San Francisco's Magnatune record label-trailblazing the early days of internet only-released indie rock.

Throughout 2005-2008, the band relentlessly toured and released two critically well-received full-length records while supporting shows with The Stills, Explosions In The Sky, Now It's Overhead, Matt Pond PA, and The Octopus Project. In 2008, the band was highlighted with Joan As Police Woman as a rising indie rock band that was buzzworthy. From 2009-2011, Hirner and Nestor included musicians from local Baltimore bands to help with recording and touring. During 2012-2013, Nestor, percussionist Frank Corl, and bassist Kresimir Tokic continued to record as TSP. In 2014, Corl and Nestor formed the indie rock group Underlined Passages, carrying on some of the indie rock/pop themes from The Seldon Plan.
