Ozzie Cadena
Real name: Oscar "Ozzie" Cadena
American Jazz / Gospel producer, composer for the Savoy and Prestige labels.Born September 26, 1924 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Died April 9, 2008 Torrance, California. Died of pneumonia at age 83. Father of Dez Cadena.
He recorded gospel and jazz music in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, and helped popularize jazz music in Los Angeles.
He worked at Newark's Radio Record Shop, whose owner Herman Lubinsky (aka Lew Herman) also owned Savoy Records, whom he later wrote numerous songs with including his only charted song, by Nappy Brown "I Cried Like A Baby". The song, co-written with Herman and Nappy Brown, hit #22 in 1959 on the U.S. R & B chart. Cadena remained a longtime staff producer for Savoy. BMI IPI #: 4779480.
