"Big Chief" Jim Wetherington

American Gospel bass singer, arranger and songwriter.
Born October 31, 1922 Ty Ty, Georgia. Died October 3, 1973 (age 50) Nashville, Tennessee..
He is best known for his many years as the bass singer for Hovie Lister and the Statesmen Quartet. James Wetherington was inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 1977 and was in the initial set of inductees to the Southern Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 1997.
