Ryazan Russian Folk Choir.
In the fall of 1932, a Russian folk choir from the village of Bolshiye Zhuravinki, Ryazhsky District, Ryazan Region, under the direction of Irina Kosilkina, performed at an official festive concert in Ryazan. This date is considered the birthday of the renowned collective, the State Academic Ryazan Russian Folk Choir named after Evgeny Popov.
From 1950 on for 40 years Евгений Попов was the Artistic Director of the Choir.

In October 1946 the choir received the status of "state" (государственный).
In 1996, the Ryazan Choir was awarded the honorary title of "Academic" for the high artistic skill and authenticity of the folk singing tradition.
In 2001, the Ryazan State Academic Russian Folk Choir was honored with the name of its legendary artistic director - Evgeny Popov.
