American swing jazz group begun by pianist John Eaton that played jazz standards. This began as a student jazz group at Princeton in 1955.Members included: Johnny Eaton, piano; Richard Lincoln, vibes; Edward White, bass; and Allen (also Alan) Bergman, drums. Additionally were John Solum, flute; Mel Kaplan, oboe; Herbert Mann, flute; Bob Prince, vibes, Simon DeMuth, bass, and Charles Spies, Jr. drums.
John began his start in modern jazz his freshman year at Princeton, with a trio consisting of himself on piano, Eddie White on bass, and Dick Lincoln on vibraphone. Later that year drummer Allen Bergman was added. Their continued play lead John to start the Princetonians.
