Real name: Willie John Ellison

R&B singer. Born 1941, Montgomery, West Virginia.

Best known for writing "Some Kind of Wonderful". The tune was recorded by Soul Brothers Six with Ellison singing lead and released 1967. The tune was widely popularized in a 1974 cover version by Grand Funk Railroad.

Ellison was with Soul Brothers Six from 1967-1969. His next project involved playing guitar in a backing band for ex-boxer Joe Frazier.
