Gerardo Arias Paz was born in Potosà on February 17 since 1950, son of Professor Juan Arias (Nor Chichas) and Eduvijes Paz, brother of Rafael Arias Paz. As a child he played piano, he studied at the "Franciscan" Catholic school, registered in Law, but more could Bolivian music in him. He is the conductor, vocalist and interpreter of the guitar of Savia Andina.
