Rhiannon Giddens (born 21 February 1977) is a singer, song-writer, multi-instrumentalist, music historian, writer, actor and activist. Raised in in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA, she was a founding member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops. She has released five albums under her own name, including two with her partner, Francesco Turrisi. Rhiannon Giddens has won two Grammys (from ten nominations) and a Pulitzer Prize. She is an honorary Doctor of Letters from the University of North Carolina. (Her sister is Lalenja Harrington.)
