Ritske Numan (October 19, 1921, Drachten - January 17, 2004, Drachten) was a civil servant and a well-known Frisian-speaking bass-baritone. He studied singing at the Utrecht Conservatory. In 1955 he became a member of the men's choir Smeliesterlân, where he soon took care of the solo parts. This started a short solo career. A year later he quit, overcome by success, and chose to sing as a hobby. He became a member of the music choir Frisia Cantat, which he left in 1987. Numan sang songs by Fedde Schurer and Harm de Wilde, amongst others. Well-known songs by Numan are Oan 'e Dwersfeart, Om útens and It âlderhûs. Ritske Numan passed away on January 17, 2004 in his hometown of Drachten, Friesland, The Netherlands.
