Herbie Williams

American trumpet player, producer, songwriter, arranger, and conductor. Member of Motown's The Funk Brothers from 1959-1972. Formed Pied Piper Productions with Jack Ashford, Mike Terry, and Joe Hunter, a group of Detroit arrangers, writers, artists and musicians who unwittingly defined the Northern Soul style in their short 1965-1967 span. Herbie had an album scheduled to be released in 1963 on the Motown subsidiary Workshop titled "The Soul and Sound of Herbie Williams", catalog number JWS-216. Also released several singles on the El Toro label.
