American jazz saxophonist (tenor and soprano).

Born: 29 October 29 1925 in Inglewood, California, USA.
Died: 23 March 1985 in New York City, New York, USA (age 59).

"Zoot" Sims is one of the greatest high register saxophone players of his generation, especially on tenor, though he also adopted alto and much later soprano. Regularly recorded for Norman Granz labels, and is well known for his playing on the recordings of beatnik writer and painter Jack Kerouac.
