YUP (originally Y.U.P., i.e. Yhdistyneet Urbaanit Puoskarit) is a Finnish progressive rock band founded in Savonlinna in the turn of 1987-1988. Founding members were Jarkko Martikainen (guitar), Valtteri Tynkkynen (bass) and Jussi Hyyrynen (drums), who all studied in the same senior high of arts. Early on they played some rather primitive, progressive hard-core punk with English lyrics, but on the Turpasauna EP in 1990 they changed language to Finnish and the music became more complicated. After this keyboardist Tommi Kärkkäinen joined the band since they needed more musicians to carry out all their ideas. In 1992 Janne Mannonen joined the band on drums and Hyyrynen switched to guitar. In 1994 Petri Tiainen replaced Kärkkäinen on keyboards and the group's line-up was solidified.

In 2009 the band announced that they would go on an indefinite hiatus and the members would concentrate on their other musical projects.
