American songwriter, singer, and record producer.
Born 3 April 1938 in Brooklyn, New York, USA.
Married to songwriter Ellie Greenwich (1962-65), whom he co-wrote many songs with.
He charted 163 times between 1960 and 2022, including nine #1 songs beginning with "Tell Laura I Love Her" in 1960. Other #1's included: "Chapel of Love", "Do Wah Diddy Diddy", "Leader of the Pack", "Hanky Panky", "Sugar, Sugar", "I Honestly Love You", "Da Doo Run Run", and "Take Me Home Tonight". Ninety-four of his 163 charted songs and six of his #1 songs were co-written by Ellie Greenwich.
