She was married to Adolph Green from 1945 to 1953 and was married to George Gaynes since 1953.
She worked with many of Golden Age musical theatre's major choreographers, including George Balanchine, Agnes de Mille, and Jerome Robbins. She had a long history on Broadway and in Hollywood, beginning in the 1940's and retiring in 1994.
