Active from 1983 to 1993. They played numerous gigs in and around Bedford,London and Northamptonshire.

For the record the song title on Discreet Campaigns was misprinted it was actually meant to be called: "Everyone Has Bad Dreams"

Lee and Dave-id continued as Laureate from 1993 with new bass player Mat Berry.

Although The Spiral Staircase hoped to reform and play live again, Robert (Bob) Abrahams passed away suddenly on the 27th Feb 2009 putting a definate end to the band.
