US vocal group from Brooklyn, NY. Originally named "The Tune Toppers", then "The Toppers (6)", they changed their name when they started recording for King Records (3).
Original members (before the King Records era): John Kelly (lead tenor), Kenny Drye (second tenor), Fred Williams (baritone), and Vernon Britton (bass), Jerry Halfhide (tenor), Sam Fickling,
2nd line-up (King Records era): lead tenor Henry Austin, second tenor James Brown, baritone Fred Williams, bass Vernon Britton, and arranger/pianist Gabriel Gill.
