Kazuhiro Koizumi (b. 1949) is a Japanese conductor from Kyoto, principal conductor of the Osaka Century Orchestra (since 2003) and honorary conductor for life of the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra (since 2008). He graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts and Universität der Künste Berlin, and received the first prize at Herbert von Karajan International Conducting Competition (1973) in Berlin. From 1983 to 1988, Koizumi was a music director of The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, and after that served as a director of New Japan Philharmonic for many years. Throughout his career, Kazuhiro Koizumi appeared as a guest conductor with Berliner Philharmoniker, The Chicago Symphony Orchestra and many other prominent ensembles in Europe and USA.
