Russian Soviet chamber and opera singer (soprano), teacher, People's Artist of the USSR. Born June 24 (July 7) 1908, St. Petersburg, Russian Empire — died May 17, 1998, Moscow. Russia.

In 1932 she graduated from the Moscow Conservatory. Since 1935, she has performed in concerts, including in an ensemble with Sviatoslav Richter (since 1943), who later became her husband. The concert repertoire included romances and forgotten opera arias by Russian and Western European composers, vocal lyrics by Soviet authors (she was often the first performer). For the first time she performed a number of chamber works by Sergei Prokofiev and Dmitri Shostakovich.
Toured abroad: Czechoslovakia, China, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania. In 1961, she left the stage. Since 1935, she has been teaching at the Moscow Conservatory.
