Ben81 and 1Boss have been collecting records since they can remember so the real I.M.S production process always starts with vinyl. Crate Diggers since before it was cool I.M.S make beats on hardware, utilising the classic EMU e6400 sampler that has been their instrument of choice for the past 10 years. Also making a continued appearance is the AKAI MPC 200XL and various analogue effects and compressors. Their sound is dusty, raw and sonically twisted into new, textured dimensions.

I.M.S are always looking to expand their style and do things that haven’t been done before. Taking influence from Artists, Musicians, Graphics and London life in general, The agenda is clear - NEVER try and sound like anyone else and push forward to generate newer, deeper levels of sonic progression. Since 2010, I.M.S have been defining themselves over and over again as serious producers - always stylistically carving a path very much of their own.

They are a no holds barred production duo boasting a no holds barred London attitude. Self-confessed control freaks, I.M.S rarely make beats with other people, and competitiveness between the pair always keeps them on point. I.M.S have now relocated separately to Manchester (Ben81) and Bristol (1Boss), but still have there ACRE Studio in South West London. There they hone there stripped down production style, often over 48 hour shifts of beat making,mixing new material and recording MCs. When not making music they run their label Starch Records as an outlet for their music and collaborations.
