Dutch Soprano, born in Zaandam on December 9, 1906, died on September 2, 1961.
She joined the former Netherlands Opera in 1941 and there she sang over a thousand performances in a repertory that comprises over 25 parts.
She was also famous as a concert singer and a favourite of conductors such as Otto Klemperer and Pierre Monteux.
In 1955 she created for Holland the part of Ellen Orford in Britten's Peter Grimes.
Older sister of Dutch soprano Nel Duval.
