Formed in September 1985. Empyre were a three piece band from Setauket, NY. which consisted of Robert Carlton on guitars and backing vocals, David McKernan on lead vocals and bass, and Michael DiGeronimo on drums. Their style was considered original rock (classic, progressive & commercial). They were influenced by and often compared to the likes of: Rush, Led Zeppelin, Triumph, Blue Oyster Cult, Jethro Tull, Alice Cooper, The Beatles, Cat Stevens, R.E.M., Yes, The Moody Blues & Dio.
