The Novas

Effective period / Period of releases: 1964 - 1965

Members: Bobby Nolan, Jim Owens (6), Ross Ingram (3), John Eckley, Jeff Raymond (2), Jim Ronald, Ted Berquist

US-American teen garage punk combo from Minnesota formed around 1964.
The original line up who recorded the first 45 "The Crusher / Take 7" included Bob Nolan (guitar, vocals), Jim Ronald (guitar, vocals), Jim Owens (bass), John Eckley (lead guitar) and the 13 year old Jeff Raymond (drums).
After the January 1965 Midwest tour Eckley and Ronald left the band, replaced by Ross Ingram on guitar, and later Ted Berquist (who'd played with Ingram in The Vilados) replaced Owens.
Banned by the booking agency, in 1965 The Novas released their 2nd and last 45 "Novas Coaster / On The Road Again".

In 1999 Norton Records reissued the first 45 with 2 unreleased bonus tracks.
