Mary Ann Mercer

American vocalist from Michigan who sang four years with the orchestra of Mitchell Ayres in the late 1930s and early 1940s. She left the orchestra to pursue a career in radio. She was the featured vocalist on "Uncle Walter's Doghouse" in 1941–42. She hit #1 in the U.S. singing the vocal refrain for "Make-Believe Island" by Mitchell Ayres and His Fashions in Music in 1940.

In 1943, she got married to arranger and Musician First Class William E. McRae, Jr.
