Ibrahim "Ibro" Selmanović was born on 23 September 1959 in Bihać, Bosna & Hercegovina, Yugoslavia.
He started his professional career in 1982 when he toured across Yugoslavia as a part of the Novi Talas na Sav Glas (New Wave at Full Volume) tour with other new singers; namely Ferid Avdić, Halid Bešlić, Ćazim Ćolaković, Rizo Hamidović, Snježana Komar, Duško Kuliš, Muhamed Mujkanović, Sejo Pitić, and Amela Zuković. He had a successful career until the 1990s when the Yugoslavian conflict started.
During the Bosnian War from 1992 until 1995, one chapter of the Yugoslavian conflict, Selmanović's hometown of Bihać was besieged by ethnic-Serb forces. Selmanović supported the Bosnian resistance and war effort by making songs about the topic. He fought in the Army of the Republic of Bosnia & Herzegovina as a part of the Umjetnička Četa 5. Korpus (Artist Company 5th Corps). It was not until 1994 and 1995 when he had released complete war related albums.
After the war, he continued to make music and was included on compilations. He continues to release singles to this day on his YouTube and on labels.
