Real name: Maya Consuelo Sternel

Donna Maya is a musician, sound artist and theremin player from Berlin. Within her music and audio visual works she creates a unique experimental underground techno sound where she uses self recorded sound samples and remarkable theremin sounds combined in detailed arrangements. Starting as a dj as part of the duo Die Patinnen Teil II, she went to New York to get deeper into music production and became the first female Ableton certified trainer. Back in Berlin, she started her solo career as Donna Maya with a special focus on making places audible and their change over time, questioning our value system and cultural understanding. Donna Maya is the founder of Sound Sister Records as well as an active member of female:pressure and supports many activities to empower and promote women in electronic music.
