American soprano, entertainer and philanthropist.Born May 6, 1920 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
Died August 2, 2012 in Memphis, Tennessee, USA.
In 1944, she joined the New York City Opera, and was the youngest member of the company. Piazza graduated from Loyola University of the South's College of Music in 1940, she subsequently studied at Louisiana State University, where she was a student of the baritone Pasquale Amato.
She was added to the Memphis Music Hall of Fame in 2016, her adopted city that she gave much back to, including as a longtime supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
