George Stam

George Stam (Rotterdam, 02.07.1905 - Rotterdam, 27.04.1995): organist, composer, publicist and teacher. He was taught by Cornelis de Wolff (Amsterdam), from whom he received lessons until 1933. At the Amsterdam conservatory, he also had lessons from Willem Pijper and Sem Dresden. In 1927 he graduated from the conservatory, and in 1933 he received the Prix d'Excellence for organ.1931-1949: organist Jacobijnerkerk Leeuwarden
1949-1953: director of the Toonkunst Conservatory and School of Music (later called the Utrecht Conservatory)
1953-1956: director of the Amsterdam Conservatorium
He was organist at the Amsterdam Koepelkerk, the Westerkerk, the Utrecht Leeuwenberghkerk and the St. Janskerk in Gouda.
1959-1968: organist St. Laurenskerk Rotterdam; also director of Rotterdam Conservatoire
1968-1992: organist Oude Kerk, Rijswijk
