Folkal Point

Effective period / Period of releases: 1972

Members: Mark Steed, Stuart Amesbury, Paul Cook (25), Cherie Musialik

From the Bristol urban region of England, the group Folkal Point put out a rare album of acoustic British folk in 1971, mixing traditional material with covers of songs by contemporary folk-rooted singer/songwriters like Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, and Tom Paxton. Their most distinguishing feature was lead singer Cherie Musialik, who had the kind of pure upper-register vocal tone possessed by many of the finest British woman folksingers of the period. Only 500 copies of their self-titled LP were pressed (and half of those were reportedly lost in a flood).
