Indian vocalist of the Agra gharana, born on February 22, 1922 at Darjeeling, died on December 20, 2009 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
Postgraduate in English, took to Hindustani Classical Music at an early age and received training from well-known musicians like Ustad Faiyaz Khan and Basheer Khan. She started broadcasting from All India Radio in 1939 and her recordings with HMV and other companies started the same year.
