Cello & flamenco

Matthieu Saglio discovered the cello following a classical route, he soon withdrew from whatever academism he was involved in and began to approach jazz in 1996. In 2002, his studies brought him to Valencia in Spain where he then settled.
Matthieu has two conclusive encounters there; with flamenco and Ricardo Esteve, noted flamencan guitarist. The two contacted Jesús Gimeno, who plays the drums and comes from a jazz background, to form Jerez-Texas.
The trio, who combine flamenco, jazz and classical music, begin to multiply their concerts so much that Matthieu decides to dedicate his life completely to music in 2003. With more than 500 concerts in 25 countries and 4 albums in the bag, Jerez-Texas became one of the major references of new flamenco.
