Yellow Bellow Room Boom

Effective period / Period of releases: 1968

Members: Lol Creme, Kevin Godley, Stan Hoffman (3)

Although described as a five-piece group from the North by New Musical Express singles reviewer Derek Johnson, The Yellow Bellow Room Boom were actually two art students from Manchester — Kevin Godley and Lol Creme, both future members of 10cc. The five-piece line-up in the Kennedy Street publicity photo of The Yellow Bellow Room Boom was an 'artificial' group put together only for the photo session by Jim O'Farrell of Kennedy Street Enterprises in 1967-68. The guys are: John Murphy, guitar (hand on mouth), Phil Keen, drums (scarf covering face), Tony Bamforth, keyboards (front left), Stuart Sirett, bass (top hat) and Jeff Walters, sax/flute (front right). They did not play on the CBS single and actually never played a gig with that line-up, as they were all busy in other groups at the time.
