Former gospel singer with The Chosen Gospel Singers (Nashboro) and The Spirit Of Memphis Quartet (Peacock Records); moved to Peacock's subsidiary Back Beat (2) to record R & B, scoring his biggest hit in 1964 with Willie Nelson's "Funny (How Time Slips Away)".
