Started in 2001 by guitarist Robin Taylor (2), this Danish band operated until 2006 and released 6 albums, Peter Friis Nielsen, Taylor's Free Universe - On-Plugged In Elsinore having been nominated to the Danish music awards as year's best release. Around the core of Taylor, saxophonist Karsten Vogel and French violinist Pierre Tassone, the band saw in its ranks (live or studio) some of the best rhythm players on the Danish jazz scene: Peter Friis Nielsen, Klavs Hovman, Lars Juul, Kalle Mathiesen, Stefan Pasborg, Pere Oliver Jørgens, Johan Segerberg.
While Robin Taylor (2)'s parallel band, Taylor's Universe, was a studio band playing composed music with sidemen picked by Taylor for each individual project, Taylor's Free Universe was primarily a live band and decicated to free improvisation.
