Dutch-Surinamese singer and songwriter, born 12 January 1986 in Utrecht, the Netherlands.Getting his start at Cruise Control Studios, where Roméo, Sat-R-Day and Re-Play also launched their careers. He performed at big festivals and television shows and received a role in the motion picture film 'Feestje!'. He also opened for the likes of Mary J. Blige, K-Ci & Jojo, Destiny's Child, Ne-Yo en Kanye West.
He signed with Universal to release his debut album 'First' which was partially recorded in Sweden. Hit singles from his debut album include Magic, Fantasy Girl, U Could Be That Girl and Hard To Get. He also released music with Ali B and the Partysquad, including I'm Sorry, Dit Gaat Fout and Dat Is Die Shit. He was also featured on Ali B's: Groupie Love.
His debut album earned him a deal with TU-Musiq Records, which released two of his singles Denk Aan Jou and Je Hebt Me in 2008. In 2013 Gio signed with SPEC Entertainment., the label of rapper Ali B.
