American violinist, orchestra leader, composer, vaudeville personality, and recording artist.

died 13 July 1958 in Manhattan, New York City, NY, USA

From 1921-1925 Ash was Musical Director at the Grenada Theatre in San Francisco, where he established himself definitely as one of the foremost orchestra directors in the country. In 1925 he was appointed Director of the McVickers Theatre in Chicago, where he immediately became a national figure through the success of his original and distinctive presentations.

Paul Robert Ash recorded several hit songs: "Rememb'ring" (Brunswick, 1924), with Paul Ash And His Granada Orchestra, "My Pet" (Columbia, 1928) and "Shadows on the Swanee" (Columbia, 1933). He also penned Kay Kyser's theme "Thinking of You."
He was born in Germany and, at the age of 1, moved to America.
