Rozelle Claxton
American jazz pianist and arranger. Born February 5, 1913 in Memphis, Tennessee, died March 30, 1995.
Lived in Kansas City from 1933, working with Bennie Moten, Harlan Leonard and Ernie Fields. Moved to Chicago in 1940 to play with Eddie South; also played with Roy Eldridge and others. From 1959 he played with Franz Jackson And His Original Jass All-Stars, and later traveled as Pearl Bailey's accompanist (1978-1983.)
