Romanian singer, actress with hebrew origins born in Bucharest, 1914 - passed away in New York, 2003.
1941 - left România for US - her name appearing on a list of passengers of the ship President Grant, arrived in New York on October 3, 1941.
Was considered a star of Romanian cabaret of the '30s. Appreciated for her voice, was the first who sang the famous song “Ionel, Ionelule” (“Johnny, Johnny”), composed by Claude Romano in 1937.
Her film career began in 1932, the first film in which he played the "Chemarea Dragostei“ (“Call of Love"), directed by Jean Michael. He was then the main role in a film adaptation of the play "Trenul Fantomă“ (“Ghost Train”), signed by Arnold Riedley.
In the US, Lisette Verea starred in "A Night in Casablanca", produced by brothers Marx - Groucho, Harpo and Chico - in 1946.
She appeared in operetta "The Merry Widow", but her film career was short of unpleasant accent in English.
