we.own.the.sky is a five-piece instrumental post-rock/progressive band hailing from Athens, Greece. Formed in late 2010, the band started by a bunch of friends seeking to express themselves artistically in the instrumental/post-rock genre. They started composing their own material with influences from their musical heroes, but at the same time they were always seeking to put their own stamp to the genre.

Their first effort came in the form of “The Glass/Nails EP” in 2013. Recorded at Unreal Studioz with Alex Ketenjian and co-produced by the band, “The Glass/Nails EP” put the band on the map of the international instrumental scene and it was welcomed with great praise, both nationally and outside the greek borders. It was also their ticket for playing a number of gigs, both as headliners and as opening acts for some of the most well-known post-rock bands from abroad.

In 2015 we.own.the.sky released their first full-length record, entitled “Earths Collide”, which was also released in vinyl format via Labyrinth of Thoughts and Ikaros Records. Recorded once again by long-time collaborator and FOH engineer Alex Ketenjian and mastered by the legendary Jens Bogren of Sweden’s Fascination Street Studios (Opeth, Katatonia, Soilwork e.t.c.), “Earths Collide” saw a slight departure from their earlier sound, with the band introducing more heavy and experimental elements.

After several mishaps and internal turbulence, we.own.the.sky returned in 2019 with their most ambitious record to date, “Home”. This marks the first time the band handled production and mixing on their own, managing to create what is in their own words “the most solid and diverse work so far”. Electronics, strings and choir vocals are only a few of the brand new elements introduced here, which are blended seamlessly with their signature sound. “Home” was met with overwhelmingly positive comments from fans and critics alike, while also topping the year-end “Album of the Year” list of the well-know Where Post Rock Dwells Youtube Channel, among other accolades.

During the course of their 10-year career, we.own.the.sky has performed alongside some of the greatest international post-rock bands (Caspian, Long Distance Calling, Tides from Nebula, Maybeshewill e.t.c.), while they have also played numerous greek festivals (New Long Fest, Desertfest, Schoolwave Festival).
