We Could Build An Empire
Effective period / Period of releases: 2011
We Could Build an Empire is a rock band from Sweden, formed in 2010. First album We Could Build an Empire came out as a self-release in 2011. Most reviewers were more or less confused about the band's musical style and could not always decide if the band was alternative rock, progressive pop-metal or something in between. Classic Rock Magazine’s PROG issue liked the mash-up and wrote:“Opener “Finest Work” has a muscular metallic tinge that nods to Alice In Chains, while there’s a touch of Peter Gabriel in “Easy”. A charm all it’s own.”
In December 2017 their follow-up "In This Place" was released by Mighty Music and gained a lot more interest in the music press. Powerplay Rock & Metal Magazine in the UK gave the "genre-defying behemoth" 9/10 points and Metalized in Denmark 8/10. According to the band themselves they finally found their own unique style on the second release thanks to carefully taking all time needed for both song-writing and recording, as well as the mixing process which involved the highly acclaimed mixers/producers Jens Bogren (Witchcraft, Katatonia) and Zed Smon (kent).
