Los Mochicas

Real name: Los Mochicas

Effective period / Period of releases: 1995

The Peruvian Creole music group "Los Mochicas" also known as "Los Mochicas del Perú", was a Chiclayan group founded by Nicolás Seclén Sampén in 1955, the project began together with José Arbulú, Alfonso ‘Chino’ Zárate and Antonio Medina. They arrived with force in the Lima radios during the decade of 1960 thanks to their particular style to interpret "marineras" and "criollo waltzes".
"Los Mochicas" became the most exalted musical group in Lambayeque. In addition to the unmistakable voice of Nicolás Seclén, the guitars and the banjo became other emblems of this famous group, which can be attributed - why not - the preservation of the traditional "marinera" and popular memory , by evoking in its lyrics the characters, uses and customs of the department and the region.
