Film producer and founder of the Indian label T-Series, born 5 May 1956 in New Delhi, India, assassinated 12 August 1997 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, by the underworld syndicate D-Company. The police declared film composer Nadeem Saifi of the music duo Nadeem Shravan a co-conspirator in Kumar's murder which led to Nadeem Saifi fleeing into exile to London until he was exonerated by four courts, including the House of Lords in the UK.
Gulshan Kumar is the father of Bhushan Kumar, the now managing director of Super Cassettes Industries Ltd. and Tulsi Kumar, a playback singer and actress.
