Cecil "Flying Turkey" Belfon was one of Grenada's most successful calypsonians in the 1970s, being crowned Calypso Monarch three years in a row in 1976, 1977, and 1978. He participated in the initial unrest of the Grenada Revolution in 1979 and became a soldier in the People's Revolutionary Army, serving until the collapse of the revolutionary government in 1983.
