Conjunto Acapulco Tropical

Effective period / Period of releases: 1971 - 1994

Members: Miguel Ramirez (5), Lauro Navarrete, Walter Torres

Mexican musical group. The decade of the sixties ended when in the Morelos neighborhood of Puerto de Acapulco, Guerrero, a group of restless young people formed a "Conjunto musical" (musical ensemble) - that is what it was called in those times -, influenced by the different rhythms that reached the port, from several parts of Latin America. It was weeks and months of planning and rehearsing. It is in the year of 1970 when his dream is finally crystallized and "El Conjunto Acapulco Tropical" is born, starting with a rhythm similar to the so-called "chunchaca", which has been a variant of the Traditional Colombian Cumbia, with arrangements and executions basic and it has a very contagious rhythm. The "Conjunto Acapulco Tropical" was then integrated by: Walter Torres (first voice, composer and congas), Lauro Navarrete (bass, composer and second voice), Miguel Ramírez (requinto and third voice), Alberto Montalvo (accordion), Elder Torres ( timbales) and Margarito García (güiro).
