Tupolev

Effective period / Period of releases: 2005 - 2008

Members: Lukas Scholler, Peter Holy, Alexandr Vatagin, David Schweighart, Paul Movahedi, Massimo Turco

Tupolev were founded in Vienna in 2003. They play instrumental pieces using piano, bass / cello, drums and electronics. After an EP on the german netlabel 12rec and their critically acclaimed debut album "Memories of Bjoern Bolssen" (Valeot, 2008), their second album "Towers of Sparks" will be released in February 2011 on Valeot Records: complex, well-thought-out compositions, rich in nonrepetitive structures, melodies and warmth. The spectrum of references is broad, but not in the sense of eclecticism: rather unconsciously covibrating are a large number of influences from serious music as well as the more cranky side of pop music.
Members of Tupolev also play in Port-Royal, the Werner Kitzmueller Trio, Protestant Work Ethic and Slon amongst others.

Peter Holy: Piano
Alexandr Vatagin: Bass, Cello
Lukas Scholler: Electronics
David Schweighart: Drums, Guitar

Former member:
